Jazzmine (or, 15 years of love)

Darkness had fallen and I had no heart.
She had left me and taken it with her in a box
Alongside the extension cords.
It was clear that I did not know how to love, myself or others.
I could no longer see the sun.

Then, like HD's army, you came into my life
And put me back together.
One touch at a time,
One reassuring glance at a time.
One request for affection at a time.

You taught me to live again, to love again.
You gave me healing and allowed me
To find my own forgiveness and to forgive her.
You led me through the darkness,
Picking out the path from her - to her.

I knew cats could see better in the dark...
